Sparkling Clean Carpets Every Time!

Turkish Carpet Show
If you have recently purchased and put down some new carpeting, you might already been looking at that pristine surface, nervously wondering how long it can last!  Remember that a carpet is meant to be walked on, and even if there is a new carpet installed that it doesn’t mean that you should stay off of it.  You need to accept the fact that there are going to be some spills along the way, but you don’t have to accept the fact that the carpet has to stain!  Take a look at a few tips below to keep in mind.

  • Vacuum frequently
  • When a spill occurs, take a dry paper towel and pat it down on the liquid until the excess liquid has been lifted up and soaking into the paper towel.
  • Put down rubber or abrasive mats at all entryways so that people can kick the grime and muck off of their shoes.
  • Check your cleaners to make sure that they are not too strong for your carpet.
  • If you are going to get a professional shampooing, ask what it will do to your carpet’s scotch guarding and know what is happening.
  • Don’t let people eat on your carpet!

There are just some common sense ideas for keeping your carpets tidy; don’t ignore the ones that you already know and always keep your ears sharp for more.  Remember that it is easier to prevent a stain than to take one out.

When you are checking out various carpet cleaners, remember that you need to check one thing.  Lots of cleaners make miracle claims, but you will find that when you use them, they remove the scotch guarding and bleach your carpet to a lighter color.  Understand what chemicals you are using and whether or not they are dangerous.

Remember that buying a new carpet isn’t cheap.  To make sure that this investment will last you for a good long time, remember to take good care of it.  Remember, too, though, that your carpet is meant to be enjoyed and that includes walking on it.  Don’t get upset, just take action when it is necessary and set down some basic rules for your family when they are on it.

I’ve been told that white vinegar and water helps eliminate odors that result in pet accidents, etc. on carpets. Have yet to try it myself though.
